Annual Members Exhibition at Orange County Community CollegeKey Dates for the 2008 Member Show to be announcedNotes from the 2007 members show:The reception took place on Sun, Sept 9 and we had a good attendance and enjoyed the piano music of Beverly Poyerd while browsing through the paintings and enjoying the wonderful food provided by our members. Juror of Awards Elise Morenon, AWS demonstrated a painting at our reception on Sept 9, as well as showing a number of ways that various papers and applications of paint could be used in innovative designs to create exciting paintings. We all enjoyed her winning personality and sense of humor in this very successful presentation. Some examples of her work are shown below.

NEWS thanks VP Elaine Garvin and co-chairs Winnie O'Dougherty and Joan Ross for the fine job they did putting this exhibition together. As always, we thank Dorothy Szefc from the OCCC Cultural Affairs Office for her assistance, cooperation and talent in working with us to make these events so successful.
Workshops 2008
James Toogood, AWS, NWS, will have a workshop at Florida, NY from October 20 thru 23, 2008. James' work has won many national awards and honors. The workshop will include a slide lecture, demonstrations on several subjects and personal guidance with individual projects. It will cover paints and materials and various techniques of application. Don't miss this opportunity to gather skills, knowledge and tools from another master painter at the NEWS workshops. The workshop will be held at the Knights of Columbus building on Main St, Florida. It has good offstreet parking, close to shops and restaurants, and only minutes from many points of interest in the area. Tuition is $350 for members, $375 for non-members.
